Arianna String Quartet
Hailed for their outstanding musicianship, the Arianna String Quartet has firmly established itself as one of America’s finest chamber ensembles. Formed in 1992, they garnered national attention by winning the Grand Prize in the 1994 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, and First Prize in both the Coleman and Carmel Chamber Music Competitions. They were also Laureates in the 1999 Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition. In 2000 the members of the Arianna String Quartet were appointed to the faculty at the University of Missouri-St. Louis as Artist Teachers and Quartet-in-Residence.

History Speaks Lecture Series: The Underground Railroad
In this special presentation of the History Speaks Lecture Series, an original program on
the Underground Railroad will be held from 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 8 at Naper
Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. The audience participates in the program by
taking on the roles of 1856 scholars and will encounter supporters on both sides of the
slavery issue. Dress for the outdoors; standing is required. For ages 12 to adult, admission
is $12 per person, $10 per student and Naperville Heritage Society Sustaining members.

Set in Africa, a boy and his father happen upon a baby Cheetah. They are compelled to bring it home and take care of this beautiful creature, which they name Duma. Tragedy strikes and the family is forced to move from the farm to the city. Keeping a full-grown mature cheetah in the
city is impossible. The young boy contemplates his options and decides that he must escort Duma back to the wild where the Cheetah belongs.

Solas
Solas is virtually unique in the new territory it has opened up for Celtic music. It has performed at all the major Celtic and folk festivals, including Philadelphia, Edmonton, the legendary National Folk Festival, and Milwaukee's Irish fest; but also at Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and the chamber music summer series at Steamboat Springs, Colorado. It has performed at Symphony Hall, Wolf Trap, the Ford Amphitheater, and Queens Hall in Edinburgh, Scotland. In New York City, where the band was based in its early years, it has played at the legendary Bottom Line folk club, but also at vaunted classical venues Town Hall and Symphony Space.
