AURORA, Illinois (April 20, 2007) Experience life on the farm whether for recreational purposes or as a cultural exchange of business ideas.
Host families provide groups with educational, agricultural tours. Guests will have the opportunity to study U.S. farming techniques, participate in demonstrations, and get an over all view of life on the farm.
Some of the opportunities include:
- Dairy Farm: with milking demonstrations, butter and ice cream making and chance to bottle feed a calf;
- Beef Farms: with modern-day, computerized feed formulation, record keeping and analysis, feedlot demonstrations, animal health practices;
- Hog Farms: with both pasture and confinement operations including different feeding and growing systems;
- Corn and Soybean Farms: a up close look at modern farm machinery, grain handling facilities, global positioning system, farm shops and offices; and
- Specialty Crop Farms: including apple orchards and cider making, trees, pumpkins, raspberries, perennial and herbs, display gardens, horse boarding and hay making.
