AURORA, Illinois - August 17, 2006 - The Aurora Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (AACVB) welcomed the Village of Big Rock as their newest partner. Big Rock becomes the AACVB's eighth partner since its inception in 1987.
"We are delighted to welcome the Village of Big Rock's community dedicated to preserving its rich agricultural heritage," said AACVB Executive Director Sue Vos.
The Village of Big Rock adds another facet of the jewel that comprises the Aurora Area: Aurora, Batavia, Montgomery, North Aurora, Plano, Sugar Grove, Yorkville and now, Big Rock.
With the addition of Big Rock to the AACVB community, the Aurora Area may now offer the consumer or business traveler delights from a variety of destinations: from dazzling urban-like nightlife to rolling pastoral beauty; from quaint country charm to cities resplendent with significant history; from the best in mall shopping to rare, unique finds.
"For me, the timing is perfect for Big Rock to be on board," said AACVB Public Relations Director Laurie DiBerardino adding, "I am so excited that I will be able to assist in promoting their historic upcoming event - the Big Rock Plowing Match."
In its 112 year, this traditional event offers visitors the rare opportunity to witness firsthand how farmers- fabric on which this country was built-tilled the soil for hundreds of years. As one of the oldest plow matches in Illinois, both horse-drawn and steel machinery matches are exhibited at the Sept. 15-17 fair.
