YORKVILLE, Illinois (August 27, 2007) Music, food, carnival rides, pancakes and a fireworks finale are all on tap for this Yorkville's Hometown Days Festival.
This three-day festival is a Labor Day tradition in the United City of Yorkville. Join in on the fun from 5p.m. to 11p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, and from 7a.m. to 11p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1 and Sept. 2.
“This year’s festival is bigger and better,” said Glory Spies, the city’s Community Relations officer. New this year: a pancake breakfast Saturday and Sunday and a non-denominational church service on Sunday morning sponsored by Trinity Church United Methodist, said Spies.
Other new events include a football field goal contest, a free family activities area, and a fireworks finale. Staples include the Pride and Joy Car show, music by the Yorkville big band and the Saturday morning pet parade.
The year 2007 was a milestone for the United City of Yorkville, marking 50 years since the merging of the villages of Bristol and Yorkville. Be sure not to miss a milestone for the Yorkville community. Gather mementos of our era and our city for a time capsule sealed for the next 50 years.
Admission is free on Friday, and is $2 per person after 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Children under 5 are free all weekend.
