Help kick off this year's Fox Valley Reads event! Join us for a free day of family fun at a Civil War Encampment. Battery G, 2nd Illinois Light Artillery and the 154th Tennessee Infantry Regiment show us what it was like to be a Civil War soldier. Creating Mexican American Identities: Multiple Voices, Shared Dreams)
Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from Noon-4pm
This exhibit was produced by the West Chicago City Museum, with grants from the Illinois Humanities Council and The History Channel. It traces the development of the Mexican American community in the Chicago area and all material is in English and Spanish. The exhibit also features images from the Aurora Historical Society’s archives -- The Wall of Memories from the Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board. The opening reception is Friday, August 12, 2011 from 5:00-7:00pm with music, food and cash bar. Admission to the reception and the exhibit is free. Free parking at the Downer/Stolp Deck (have your ticket stamped in the gift shop).
