Aurora Area Sports & Tournaments

The Aurora area offers a large selection of excellent sports facilities, including soccer, softball, golf, tennis and hockey. The Aurora area is conveniently located 37 miles west of Chicago along I-88.

The Aurora area offers a variety of great sports facilities, including:

  • Fox Valley Park District - Nearly 20 lighted ball fields, district works approximately 4,000 man-hours during the season to keep fields in prime condition.
  • New in 2005 - The Fox Valley Park District is building a new athletic center in Aurora that will include a four court field house with indoor running track, an indoor aquatic center, including an eight-lane competitive pool, leisure pool and therapy pool, indoor tennis facility, fitness center and wellness center, babysitting play area, and multi-purpose rooms. The multi-purpose field house will accommodate an indoor soccer field, basketball, volleyball, tennis and badminton.
  • Stuart Sports Complex - 200 acres, 4 lighted ball fields, 18 full-sized soccer fields. Can accommodate 2-5000 spectators. Hosted the National Softball Association Youth World Series, the Aurora Fastpitch Association, and the Fox Valley Youth Soccer Association.
  • Great Lakes Center - The "Nation's most complete volleyball facility" with eight indoor volleyball courts, state-of-the-art weight room, training room with full-time trainer, on-site deli and Volleyshop.
  • Aurora Archery Range - Over 41 acres; hosts the National Field Archery Association Tournament
  • Fox River Paintball Sports - Paintball outings, equipment and rentals. Hosts scenario games with 200-300 players. 60 acres of the best paintball fields, 14 different fields, 3 Speedball Tournament fields.
  • Fox Valley Ice Arena and Fitness Club - Ice rink and fitness club, home to the Chicago Freeze Hockey Team.
  • Play USA - State of the art indoor soccer facility. Home to Team Chicago over the winter months.
Highlights:
  • The 2009 Solheim Cup will be played at Rich Harvest Links golf course in Sugar Grove
  • The 2002, 2003 and 2004 LPGA Kellogg-Keebler Classic was held at Aurora's Stonebridge Country Club
  • Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove is home to the Hook A Kid On Golf of Illinois offices
  • Hosted the 5th Annual Memorial Day Legacy Soccer Festival - teams played 440 games over two and a half days by players from five surrounding states, totaling 3,200 participants.
  • Hosted the following: Illinois State Youth American Bowling Alliance (2002), Midwest Regional Ladies Bowling Tournament (1996), Illinois Open Golf Championships (1997/1999), Chicago Challenge LPGA Tournaments (1991-1994).
