Aurora Museum Week Kicks Off June 2

Aurora Downtown is proud to sponsor the second annual Aurora Museum Week from June 2 to 8. Aurora Museum Week highlights and encourages the community to visit and explore all of Aurora’s museums.

Participating Museums include Blackberry Farm (Early Streets Museum), Aurora Regional Fire Museum, SciTech Hands On Museum, David L. Pierce Art and History Center, and William Tanner House Museum.

David L. Pierce Art and History Center houses both Aurora Historical Society and Aurora Public Art.

Each museum will be open with fun activities throughout the week including free admission days.

“Aurora Museum Week provides an opportunity to highlight each of the museums located in Aurora. Aurora is fortunate to have such a wide array of world-class museums featuring exhibits and programs for visitors of all ages,” said Brian Failing, executive director of the Aurora Regional Fire Museum and chair of Aurora Downtown’s Business Attraction and Retention committee.

During the week, visitors can pick up a passport from any of the participating museums. If patrons visit three or more museums and have their passport stamped, they will be entered into a drawing for a museum prize basket. Normal admission charges do apply, however several museums will offer free admission on select days and times listed below. David L. Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer, is always free, but donations are accepted.

SciTech Hands On Museum, 18 W. Benton St., offers free admission on Monday, June 3.

Aurora Regional Fire Museum, 53 N. Broadway, offers free admission on Tuesday, June 4.

Blackberry Farm, 100 S. Barnes Rd., offers free admission on Wednesday, June 5.
