In 1928 the Leland Hotel opened its doors to great excitement and fanfare. It offered first class accommodations while its restaurants and entertainment venues were the finest offered outside of downtown Chicago. For this reason, Leland attracted an eclectic mix of the Midwest’s most fascinating characters of the time. Powerful business executives like Phillip K. Wrigley and Charles Comiskey II, swanky celebrities like Gene Autrey and Sally Rand, and prominent crime bosses such as Al Capone and John Dillinger were all know to be frequent visitors. Indeed, Aurora’s Leland was the place to be. Although much has changed in the world since the Roaring ‘20s, at Leland Tower, much has remained the same. Our guests can still expect warm and welcoming service in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, delicious dishes prepared with the freshest ingredients, cold-drafted beer and elegant cocktails to enjoy with friends, old and new. At Leland Legends Pub & Grill, our goal is to bring the exceptional standards of service and quality from that bygone era to the present day. As we do so, we hope to share with you some of the glamour and romance of the past as we recall the history and lore of some of the amazing events and people that have come before us; whose lives intersect with ours at this grand historical location. Bring your stories, bring your friends and join us as we celebrate like it’s 1928! We will make some history of our own as we once again return the Leland to its status as the place to be in Aurora.
