New space, new name, new vibe: City of Aurora Mayor Richard C. Irvin officially dedicated Water Street Square in 2019. Previously known as "Lot B", this beautiful location in the heart of downtown Aurora on the Fox River now doubles as a popular public event space, home to the Aurora Farmers Market (Illinois' oldest and longest running farmers market) and cultural events throughout the summer and fall. “This is a new era in downtown Aurora,” said Mayor Irvin. “There’s a domino effect happening that will fundamentally change the face and vibe of Aurora as a whole.” Water Street Square is located on Water Street across from Water Street Mall and City Hall between Downer Place and Benton Street. In addition to the Aurora Farmers Market, Water Street Square is home to the Festival del Tequila y Mariachi in July, the City of Lights Ukulele Festival in August, and the On The Wall hip hop festival in September.
