The Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (AACVB) announces the promotion of Lisa Wisner to the position of Director of Sales.
In her new role, Wisner leads the group sales function for the organization and is responsible for promoting the Fox Valley region as a destination for group tours, meetings, and youth and amateur sports.
Wisner is a destination management professional with over 20 years of experience in tourism and hospitality sales, marketing and leadership. She launched her career with the Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau as a sales professional prior to taking the role of executive director at the Downers Grove Visitors Bureau in 1997. She later served as Group Tour Manager at The Morton Arboretum, where she managed a profitable program developing and promoting tour packages for the Arboretum’s various audiences. She rejoined the AACVB in 2018 and has served as Group Sales Coordinator for the past six years.
As Director of Sales, Wisner is charged with marketing the beautiful Fox River Valley area, just 37 miles west of Chicago, as a top travel destination. The ten communities served by AACVB - Aurora, Batavia, Big Rock, Hinckley, Montgomery, North Aurora, Oswego, Plano, Sugar Grove and Yorkville - offer both heartland charm and urban amenities for travelers throughout the Midwest.
“I am thrilled that Lisa accepted the advanced position of Director of Sales,” said Cort Carlson, Executive Director, Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “She has the experience and skill set to move the AACVB’s sales efforts to the next level. As our destination grows and markets shift, Lisa is uniquely qualified to guide the sales efforts of the Aurora Area.”
AACVB sales generated business to the tune of $4.5 million in estimated economic impact for its most recent fiscal year ending June 2024 thanks to partnerships with group tour attractions like Paramount Theatre, Farnsworth House, and youth and amateur sports venues managed by the Fox Valley Park District and private operators throughout the region.
